About Dr. Amitina

Dr. Amitina is a dually board-certified Anatomic/Clinical and Molecular Genetic Pathologist with extensive diagnostic and leadership experience. She earned her medical degree with honors from Moscow Medical Academy and holds a PhD in Virology, completing her residency at Maimonides Medical Center followed by fellowship training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and UCLA. Her distinguished career includes leadership positions at Quest/NeoGenomics and HCA Physician Services, along with pioneering work in molecular diagnostics at Celgene/Abraxis Bioscience.

Dr. Amitina’s research has significantly advanced molecular pathology, including developing FISH assays for HPV triage of abnormal Pap tests and creating sensitive detection methods for BRAF V600E mutations in melanoma. Her work on circulating tumor cell detection in prostate cancer and HIV proviral DNA quantification has been published in the Journal of Molecular Diagnostics and presented at major conferences including ASCO and ASCP. These contributions have improved diagnostic accuracy in oncology and infectious disease management.
